Step back in time at Pat Rétro, a charming diner located at 1983 Rue de Bergerville in Québec City. Established in 1983, this nostalgic eatery has become a local legend, boasting a menu filled with classic comfort foods that capture the essence of a bygone era. With its striking retro decor reminiscent of the 50s and 60s, Pat Rétro is not just a place to dine; it's a delightful experience that invites you to relish the simplicity and joy of a traditional diner.

The culinary offerings at Pat Rétro are a testament to quality and taste. Start your meal with their renowned poutine—a quintessential Canadian dish that will make your taste buds sing. Made with fresh, in-house cut fries, topped generously with squeaky cheese curds that maintain their integrity under a rich, savory gravy, this poutine is a must-try for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Quebec.

But the indulgence doesn’t stop there. The diverse menu features a variety of mouthwatering burgers, each packed with juicy meat and bursting with flavor, albeit some diners note a lack of spiciness in the patties. Perfectly crispy fries accompany many dishes, ideal for those who enjoy that satisfying crunch in every bite. While opinions differ on the cooking styles, it’s clear that the familial atmosphere and sense of nostalgia bring patrons back time and time again.

One can’t help but feel enveloped in history with every visit, as celebrities like Céline Dion and her late husband René Angélil were known to frequent this very spot. It's a pilgrimage for fans of the iconic singer and for anyone who appreciates a meal steeped in local history. The diner strikes a balance between casual dining and genuine hospitality, making it a fitting place for family gatherings or friendly meet-ups.

Though some reviews hint at service woes, particularly of being understaffed, many patrons have praised the warm and accommodating nature of the young staff, who strive to provide a pleasant dining experience. The cleanliness of the establishment and the authenticity of the décor further enhance the experience, allowing guests to savor their meals in a space that feels uniquely nostalgic.

Whether you're drawn in by the rich history, the promise of delectable comfort food, or the endearing retro ambiance, Pat Rétro is a diner that invites you to relish in the flavors of life, one bite at a time. So why not indulge your cravings and pay a visit? Your taste buds will thank you!

Pat Retro. Open since 1983, Céline Dion and her late husband René Angelile used to come here all the time when they were in town. Consider it a pilgrimage trip. The poutine here is great: The fries are made from fresh potatoes in house. The squeeky cheese curds are fresh, abundant and in big chunks that won’t melt when you top it off with the delicious gravy. I love this poutine, especially paired with a club sandwich and their in house mayonnaise. It’s in the neighbourhood of Sillery, 20 minutes from the historic center. But this is a historic institution with great food that if definitely a local secret. 100% Underrated.

Understaffed, but the young guy at the register was super nice and ring it's best to offer the best experience to customers. The food was cold, sub par compared to what it used to be. Menu online presents many options that are not offered in the restaurant. I will definitely not go back nor recommend this.

Very good food quality. French fries are awesome. My meal tasted very good compared to other joints with similar menu. Retro atmosphere of the 50s/60s was realistic and credible and the place was very clean. This restaurant isn't an institution in Quebec City for nothing.

As retro diners gothis one is ok. You order at the feont, get seated, then go get your order when it's done. Hot dogs are good, fries alright (if you like crispy ish fries, nit the greasy kind) burgers are ok, very meaty, not a lot of spice in the patty). Poutine was ok, gravy and cheese are ok, but the fries too crispy for a truly good poutine. The place is clean and well decorated, much better than most fast food joints. Service was ok, and prices ok too. Good for once is a blue moon, but not worth goimg back over and over.

Great place to eat nostalgic burgers. Had a great historic run with celebs but although the place looks better, it somehow fails to continue on the tradition. Still a nice spot to visit, with off course the retro look and service, just need to get the staff aboard and the scenery would be complete. Lots of choices on food, drinks and seats...

Very good retro-styled restaurant located on Maguire. Their variety of burgers and other fast food items are top quality. And their french fries are the best around. Recommended for your next casual meet up with friends or family.
